Go 92.5 FM[google cache] is now Radio ONE.
Bleh. The official death of the best FM radio station in Mumbai. None of the loyal Go fans i know ever listened to it anyway, after that cruel april fools joke of shifting to hindi-only programming.
And people are looking forward to Anil Ambani's Adlabs Radio? I don't expect anything more than a Himes-fest from them.
In related news, Anil Ambani's new double A logo is the new UGH.

nh8 is sexy. wide roads, good signage, evrybody at an average speed of 70, crash barriers (guard rail?), computerised toll nakas...
ironically, while the truck drivers are particular about lane discipline etc, the (educated?) lancer & santro losers overtake from the left, cut right in front of u, etc.
if i could drive, i wudve applied for a job as a driver for NEETA volvo buses...
dead cow by the road, legs frozen staring into the sky.
break-down van crashed into a ditch.
came back with MANGOESv1.0
with the rains already within sniffing distance, dont think there will be later versions.
pick up ur share.
didn't have much time at dahanu... unload, load, leave.
didn't spend time at the river also, but its dry now anyway. need to go there in the rains.
hell this doesnt feel like a vacation of any kind.
and its my first in 4 years. and its almost over.
coming back to highway signage.
saw this sign in red & white reflective stickers at junctions, on the highway :

he's too busy celebrating a brand new day in bangalore.

had to make a trip to the farm today, but that gets postponed till tomorrow.
trucking away all the stuff we could salvage from home. getting back this years mangoes, installment#1.
doesnt feel like holidays, actually.
done years without a vacation, so really seems like exams over, next sem next week.
they want me to start work 1st week june. crushes all those huge plans i had & all.
need a runaway vacn desperately. will do something jhatku asap.
need some career advice also.

i dont think any place in mumbai plays music as nice (&varied) as this [ppl say 80s & hawaiian shack are nice, but i havent heard them]
may get repetitive if i go there everyday, but then once in like a month or so, is coool.
beer @50 bucks is cheap, & the last time i was there i had to be carried out, high on a few pitchers.
today was 100% non alcoholic -- fruit juice day.
& im high.on the music.
to add to it, the rickshaw i came home by was blasting papa dont preach & black velvet & stuff :D

the grand hyatt, mumbai, is now open.
asias largest luxury hotel or smthing.
a hop away from home. even closer from the new place im moving to.
a filthy hop though. a galli full of sqautters who cook, live, shit, sleep & rummage thru trash, bang on the centre of the road.
hyatt cudnt get rid of them. So they armtwisted the state govt, who in turn arm twisted mumbai university managing council.
& hyatt go a nice private road carved thru the middle of kalina campus, & connnected to the upcoming SCLR.
wonder why the univ council were so adamant abt it, saying univ land only for edjucashun & all, given that
almost half of the campus is already encroached by slum lords.
some 3 restaurants at hyatt are functional, will review them wen i can afford it :D
[update] 100,000 sq ft to fart around & do lukhagiri.
har har har. the hyatt's design is inspired by 3 caves devoted to shiva ... elephanta, jogeshwari & OMG MANADAPESHWAR !!!! -- wonder how anybody can get any inspiration from that public toilet.
btw , coll is prolly the only coll where u have 8th century caves & 16th century defacements :D

after 8 hours of tweaking(understament), an almost skipped lunch, hours of scrawling in gimp, it took some time to register that this was 66.66% accuracy.
& since the 1 (which gave 94% in test database checking) was the digit that erred, it wasn't such a bad effort after all.

the restaurant trip is long overdue.
lets do it this weekend, wotsay ?
my suggestions :
1. Irani/Parsi food as earlier suggested. Bad we missed navroze, it wudve been cool. added to irani places : Sassanian Boulangerie, marine lines.
2. Street food. Bhendi Bazaar, Fort, Chowpatty etc etc... Sasta, Swadisht, Tikau. Suggestions please. I think a quest for the best vadapau in mumbai is cool.
3. Post midnight food. Bhurji, Chineese, Kulfi, (some pav bhaji guy outside andheri?). Essentially a drive/ride down mumbai streets, from midnight to 4am.

once upon a time, pagers were a rage. all the gujju bijneshmen, salesmen and evrybody had one.
every PCO u passed had somebody calling back the number who paged them, so much that some phone booths had "pager calls not allowed" notices.
then came the mobile phone.
slowly the pager lost out, & the only people using pagers (around 3 years back), were the radio jockeys on AIR FM, & the contract painter/carpenter/plumber etc. dunno who uses 'em today.
always thought the idea of dictating text messages sucked.(now mtnl has started a voice2sms service also (havent tried it out)) prolly the fact of it being one-way, blah blah...
now im suddenly thinking of the infrastructure that went into it. most of the pager cos. now serve as customer support for niit, indiatimes, aptech ... the call 9604xxxxxx to know more etc... ideas of using their broadcasting(?) equipment are running thru my heddd.
traffic mgmt solutions (dynamic routes, signal timings etc, cheap cousin of gps)?
optimized rickshaw/taxi allotment/booking ?
BEST bus information (expected in minutes etc at bus stops) ?

if this struck me a year earlier, wudve probly done my final year project in something related :) ... nothing verry verry radical, but a deliverable (saleable?) product, nevertheless.
or prolly im thinking becoz ive got midterm tests tomorrow... the wildest ideas hit me only when im supposed to b studying stuff totally unrelated...
i dont think ill pursue this idea after my exams post june, id have lost interest by then :D

some nice li'l virus came in & wrote "was here" somewhere in my partition table (mbr?) ... thanks to "antivirus slows down the comp like hell .. can't surf with it" + kazaa lite
30gb of my life lost.
ive never felt soo lonely before. its either the lack of music, or im becoming thoda geekish .
recovery programs just rub it in... i can see wot files ive lost, but i can't restore (demos -- can't restore file >64k!! / cant make changes to mbr,readonly)
